A method has been proposed for moving rolled strip laterally as it is continuously transferred from the finishing train to the coiler by a roller conveyor. The strip is moved along at least two driven guides. The base guide is positioned in relation to the width of the strip, and the end of the strip is forced into contact with the working surface of this guide. The base guide is positioned before the strip begins moving. This guide is moved a distance which is less than half the nominal width of the strip relative to the axis of the conveyor. The strip is sent into the area of the guides at a certain angle to the base guide, forcing the end of the strip into contact with the latter.
