Treatment of cranial cruciate ligament and meniscus rupture with the external capsular stabilization technique and partial arthroscopic meniscectomy in dogs.

Twenty dogs in Poland with a cranial cruciate ligament and meniscus rupture were surgically treated. Clinical, radiological and arthroscopic examinations were performed in all animals. Meniscus rupture and cranial cruciate ligament injuries were diagnosed in all dogs. The dogs were operated using an external capsular technique for cranial cruciate deficiency. The injured medial meniscus was removed using an arthroshever and arthroscopic equipment set. Clinical improvement was excellent in each dog and the animals returned to normal activity. The presented arthroscopic meniscectomy and simultaneous stifle stabilization is a valuable surgical technique for the treatment of meniscal and cranial cruciate ligament injuries in dogs.
