摘要

What problems were addressed? Preceptors in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Ottawa, were looking for guidance when faced with resident doctors (residents) in difficulty. Rapid programme expansion, decentralisation and curriculum changes had resulted in insufficient faculty development in this area. What was tried? The Academic Support Process (ASP) website (http://uottawa.academicsupportplan.com) was developed to provide online tools to support the development, implementation and tracking of individualised learning plans for residents, as well as up-to-date, evidence-based educational resources for faculty development. The site assumes a team-based approach to resident education by supporting private online communication between faculty members and allied health learning team members for each resident, in which observations, details of encounters and feedback can be documented.
