When charities' work is unwanted

With reference to your report about textiles recycling and the role of charities (February 16). Charities should never become businesses as this is professional competition. While the commercial world has to work for profit the charities pretend they are working for the benefit of those who need their help. Donations from the public are given with the aim of helping the needy, but if the charities after having received donations become involved in commercial operations it creates unfair competition for privately owned companies. Nobody will deny charities have better financial sources than private companies.
