Food show displays a bigger message--the developing nations are here to trade

A trip to the Anuga food show in Cologne this year showed one distinct trend--the gulf between the poorer nations of this world and the richer is going to quickly narrow. The south east Asian countries, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan together with the emerging eastern European countries are out there marketing their products for all they are worth. The entry to the World Trade Organisation for China and Taiwan and the prospective entry into the European Union for many of the Eastern European countriesappears to have opened up the marketing flood gates. There is a mood among these nations that now they are allowed to trade, they are going to grab the opportunity with both hands.
