Within today's interconnected world, with its fast multichannel flows of information, do social norms evolve faster or are they less stable than in the past? Did privacy really cease to be a social norm (as announced by Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, in January 2010)? When are individuals ready to bargain their privacy levels for expected benefits (e.g. via loyalty cards)? To what extent should technologies be curtailed because of privacy concerns? What are the implications of new European regulatory positioning and the UK Cabinet Office's action on access to consumer data?
