Oocyte donation therapy is a relatively new technique that brings the hope of having a baby to many who were previously unable to become pregnant. The major indications for oocyte donation include premature ovarian failure, increasing childbearing age, repeated failure of implantation for unknown reasons, and parental genetic diseases and chromosomal abnormalities (Sauer & Kavic, 2006). Ovum donation extends a woman's opportunity for pregnancy past menopause. In 1992, the first case of a "test-tube baby" from a donated oocyte in China was reported. Although oocyte donation is a feasible alternative for infertile women, there is a significant shortage of human donor oocytes (Heng,2005).
