Greenhouse gas emissions drop 8.6%

Greenhouse gas emissions fell by 8.6% in 2009, compared to the previous year, according to provisional estimates from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). UK emissions of the basket of six greenhouse gases covered by the Kyoto Protocol were estimated at 574.6mt CO_2 equivalent, compared to 628.3mt in 2008.
