Municipal utility Stadtwerke Kiel, operating in Kiel on the Germany Baltic Sea coast, has dropped plans for a new 800MW coal power station, adding to a list of eight coal plant projects around Germany that have been ditched since autumn 2006. The Stadtwerke and its partner E.On Kraftwerke have instead decided to look at the feasibility of building a gas cogeneration power station.
