Coal transport by barge and rail into Germany is still running smoothly despite massive rainfall potentially affecting barge deliveries and a labour dispute between state-owned railway company Deutsche Bahn and its locomotive drivers threatening to stop coal movements by rail. Massive rainfall in Switzerland and southern Germany in the Upper Rhine region has not yet been enough to cause high water affecting barge shipments. The weather outlook has improved "so the situation looks more relaxed," a steam coal buyer said.
