SSM calls FM on Spitsbergen supplies

A fire, which started on Saturday, July 30, at the Svea Nord mine on the artic island of Svalbard has forced the mining company Store Norske Spitsbergen Grubekompani (SNSG) to call force mojeure on all deliveries. This in turn has meant that trader SSM which markets the material to also call force mojeure on contracted supplies. All of the 25 miners working in the mine at the time were evacuated and none was seriously injured. The cause of the fire is uncertain but Norwegian media reports claim it was due to faulty welding work, which may have been related to a longwall change.
