摘要

Around the world, companies are warming up to the value of RFID-enabled supply chains. While some opponents have maligned the headaches of implementation, others - including major stakeholders like Wal-Mart - have steadfastly defended it, pointing out its long-term ROI and benefits to operational efficiency. A recent report from Capgemini summing up the big global developments in the technology was similarly positive: tags are performing much better than ever before, the range of technologies is expanding and new industries are signing up. Item-level tagging is finally starting to catch on, the report continued, as is tagging of returnable transport items, and while adoption of the pallet and case mandates of mega-retailers has been slow, there is hope that RFID will catch on in the retail market once the benefits for retailers and manufacturers alike become clear.
