Continuous monitoring of forage drying. Presentation of a testing method

The traditional methods for following-up the drying of herbage on the ground are lengthy and tedious, with grossly uncertain results. A non-destructive method is proposed here, which makes the task considerably simpler. A grid is placed under a portion of a windrow, and the sample can thus be continually weighed while Wilting. This device makes it possible to follow the drying of a give sample 'in real time', but its adaptation to conditioned herbage or to wide windrows raises difficulties.
