International Standards for cast irons -- latest developments

The next two years will see the publication of several revised versions of the international standards for cast irons as well as a number of new standards in the field. This review outlines the latest work of the International Standards Organisation (ISO) Committee responsible for this work and follows previous articles on the standards for cast irons. The ISO committee responsible for developing cast iron standards, TC 25, was constituted in 1947, and as such, was one of the first committees formed after the inauguration of the ISO. The main activities of TC 25 were completed by the 1980s; however a revision of the European (EN) standards for the cast iron family of materials in 1997 stimulated interest in the area of international iron standards.
