JSC Ural Steel (former JSC NOSTA, organised on the base of Orsk-Khalilovo Integrated Iron-and-Steel Works), was constructed in 1955 far from large sources of iron ore and coal, but near small unique Khalilovsky deposit of naturally-alloyed iron are containing nickel, chromium and cobalt. The enterprise was designated to produce pig iron and steel of improved grade for manufacturing facilities and tubes, working in aggressive media (for oil and gas sector). The company is focused historically on several key branches of Russian industry: bridge building, chemical and power-generating machine building, pipe industry. Around 60 percent of the company sales fall to domestic market.
