The use of particular chemotherapeutic agents, molecular-targeted therapies and radiation therapies can have direct threats to the cardiovascular system including vascular compromise, structural heart disease and myocardial dysfunction and heart failure [1]. A cancer diagnosis and its subsequent treatment can also negatively impact cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, with studies demonstrating weight gain, decline in physical activity participation and decreased cardiorespiratory fitness in cancer patients post-treatment compared with prediagnosis [2,3] i Importantly, a wide spectrum of cancer patients are at increased risk of CVD, including pediatric and young adult cancer survivors [4], breast cancer patients with or without exposure to human EPG receptor-2 targeted agents (HER-2) [5] and prostate cancer patients on androgen deprivation therapy [6].
