The outlook varies substantially from one manufacturing segment to the next. Manufacturers servicing resource companies, such as those providing machinery and equipment, are doing better. Others, such as the automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers and those that produce components for them, have been severely affected by the high Australian dollar and a global overcapacity, and the future prospects are not bright either.
