This year was a little different, even into December I was still getting calls from beekeepers askingabout how the lack of snow and the mild conditions could be affect their bees. In most cases, we simply talked about what they had done in the fall to prepare the bees for winter and basically everything they could do was done. Winter is not only a stressful time for the bees but it also appears to be a stressful time for beekeepers as well. The high degree of variability with wintering losses over the past 7-8 years has created a heightened degree of uncertainty and concern.
