With a turret mill, a manual lathe and one employee, Steve Forbister founded the sub-contract machining company 4B Precision Engineering on the Pennywell Industrial Estate in Sunderland 10 years ago. The company was soon joined by engineering manager Adrian Hadlington, who had served an apprenticeship with Mr Forbister and subsequently worked with him at a local sub-contractor, where Hurco vertical machining centres (VMCs) were the prismatic metal-cutting machines of choice.
