A North American division of BAE Systems has won a contract from the US Navy for post-construction work aboard the guided-missile destroyers USS Zumwalt and USS Michael Monsoor. The contract has an initial value of $10.3 million and a maximum value of $192.7 million for work through to September 2021. Bob Koerber, vice-president and general manager of BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair, said: "We're pleased with the opportunity to help prepare these ships for initial service in the fleet. We look forward to working with industry partners to install the 'state of the art' combat systems and to finish other hull and engineering enhancements, following their construction and delivery."
