Venturing into CNC machining: Additional capability adds an extra dimension to a stockholder's design and fabrication expertise

Established in 1971 by brothers Tony and Geoff Ives, chairman and managing director respectively, the aluminium stockholder and fabricator Spa Aluminium Ltd began by supplying window manufacturers and shop fitters. However, it was a global manufacturer of motorised and manual curtains and blind systems for the 'high end' contract and retail markets that prompted a significant change of direction. This customer's products are all made to measure, and it was the requirement for a wide variety of profiled aluminium that encouraged Spa Aluminium to become involved in design and to hold profiled stock for 'bespoke' customers. In addition to special profiles, it currently stocks more than 300 standard extrusions - plus aluminium sheet - in its 30,000ft~2 temperature-controlled warehouse.
