Faced with the problem of an aging billet grinding plant at the Kapfenberg special-steel rolling mill, the experts of the Boehler Technology Centre were again able to prove their outstanding problem solving abilities. As pointed out by its managing director, this highly innovative competence centre offers upgrading and retrofitting services for the mechanical devices, the control systems, and the software of existing plants at moderate costs. The capital expenditure is justified by a sustainable performance increase, which guarantees a short pay-back period. The measure is intended not only to restore the original output parameters of the equipment, but to substantially improve the performance of obsolete plants. The billet grinding plant at the company's Kapfenberg location, built in 1964, is a showcase.
