Pressure Coefficient of Interfacial Tension for Polymer Blends

Wc have studied the thermodynamic interpretation of the pressure coefficient of interfacial tension y for a compressible polymer blend, which there is a large difference in compressibilities of constituent polymers. A recently developed self-consistent field theory combined with an off-lattice equation-of-state model for the blend was employed in order to probe the interfacial behavior of the given blend. It was shown that a longstanding notion of the pressure coefficient of y as the interfacial thickness is nullified because there is a region of the negative coefficient. It was also perceived that the coefficient is the measure of the lateral overlap of Guggenheim's hypothetical Gibbs-Duhem volumes.
