Wood pellets in storage can emit "potentially dangerous" levels of carbon monoxide (CO), according to research. "It appears that low-level combustion reactions occur within the pellets during storage that can produce elevated levels of CO," a report to the Oilheat Manufacturers Association (OMA) by its technical director, John Batey, noted. "It needs to be examined in more detail," Batey said in an interview.
