New rights for agency workers

The Agency Workers Directive, scheduled for 1st October 2011, could have serious implications for the logistics industry. The new ruling will entitle agency workers, who have been in a role for 12 weeks or more, to the same pay and holiday rights as other workers. Additionally, under the new directive, agency staff will be afforded new maternity rights, including time off for antenatal appointments and suspension on full pay if the original position is deemed unsafe and an alternative cannot be found.
