Make a Custom Planting Container

As I read the article on paw paw planting containers in the January & February 2006 Fruit Gardener, I appreciated the author's insights and the efforts he make to develop a customized planting container to serve the needs of his particularly unique requirements. But as I read cautionary notes about cutting 8-inch PVC pipe, I couldn't help wondering if my PVC hand saw wouldn't do the same job on properly marked pieces of 8-inch PVC pipe I have, with the possible inclusion of a few rest breaks.
