An American Petroleum Institute (API) “whitepaper” lays the blame of future rising energy pricesat the feet of the U.S. President. In remarks toreporters on March 13, API’s Group Director forUpstream and Industry Operations Erik Milito saidthat administration policies were obstructing U.S. oiland natural gas development and contributing tohigher gasoline prices in particular. “Gasoline pricesare higher today at least in part because governmenthas neglected to pay sufficient attention to theimportance of producing more of our own oil andnatural gas. Adding supplies to markets is critical tokeeping downward pressure on prices. Andgovernment policy has prevented and continues toprevent that.”
