TransCanada's Bison Pipeline Will Move Gas from Powder River Basin to Midwest Markets

FERC authorized Bison Pipeline LLC (CP09-161) on 4/9/10 to construct and operate a 302-mile natural gas transmission system and new compressor station to provide 477 MMcf/d of gas takeaway capacity from Wyoming's Powder River Basin. The route will extend from the Dead Horse region near Gillette in northeast Wyoming to an interconnection with Northern Border Pipeline Co. in Morton County in southwest North Dakota. "The project is designed to interconnect with Northern Border which, for years, has been largely dependent on gas supply from Canada," the Commission stated. "Access to this competitively-priced natural gas supply source should enhance utilization of Northern Border's pipeline system, which will increase the efficiency of the interstate pipeline grid."
