BRITISH COLUMBIA'S OIL AND GAS ACTIVITIES ACT WILL IMPLEMENT WIDE-RANGING ENERGY PLAN TO ENCOURAGE OIL AND GAS RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT IN THAT PROVINCE

The Canadian Province of British Columbia (B.C.) this month has put forward a new regulatory framework for oil and gas by proposing the Oil and Gas Activities Act.The Minister of Energy,Mines and Petroleum Resource,Richard Neufeld,announced the adoption of key commitments made in the previously drafted B.C.Energy Plan - consolidating oil and gas regulatory requirements,improving permitting processes,creating a new process for appeals of decisions of the Oil and Gas Commission (OGC),and enhancing the powers of the OGC to enforce compliance and respond to stakeholders.
