Complaint over Spinoff in Utah Involves Gathering Service Upstream of Facilities to Be Abandoned, Says Company Prepared to Acquire Them as well as Colorado Interstate Gas

Chipeta Processing LLC (CP09-48) answered a late protest by EOG Resources Inc. to a proposed spinoff of the Natural Buttes compressor station, processing plant, and 9.05-mile pipeline in Uintah County, Utah. Colorado Interstate Gas Co. (CIG) (CP09-45) proposed to abandon the facilities by sale to Chipeta, which filed a petition (CP09-48) for a disclaimer of jurisdiction. EOG is facing a higher fee, well above the $0.19/dth historically paid for gathering and processing services, but the increase has nothing whatsoever to do with spinoff of the short pipeline, Chipeta told the Commission. CIG chimed in on May 13, a week after Chipeta's filing. Like Chipeta, CIG told FERC that broader changes in the Uinta Basin are behind this dispute.
