FERC Authorizes Sale, Transfer to Chipeta Processing and Refunctionalization of Colorado Interstate's Compressor and Processing Facilities in Utah

FERC on 8/3/09 issued an authorization for Colorado Interstate Gas Co. (CIG) (CP09-45) to abandon by sale to Chipeta Processing LLC the Natural Buttes Compressor Station and Processing Plant, a five-mile segment of Line No. 155A, including two meter stations, and other appurtenant facilities, all located in Uintah County, Utah. Chipeta's corresponding petition (CP09-48) for a declaratory order requesting that, following the transfer, the subject facilities will be production and gathering facilities exempt from the Commission's jurisdiction, was also approved pursuant to section 1 (b) of the Naturel Gas Act (NGA). The Commission found that upon acquisition by Chipeta the facilities would perform a gathering function exempt from its jurisdiction. The preliminary sale price for the subject facilities is approximately $9 million, or $5,730,977.28 above their net book value of $3,269,023 (with adjustments to account for certain line pack and negative salvage).
