Survey reports UK trout farmers' strategies for managing Enteric Redmouth Disease (ERM)

AN e-mail survey of UK trout farmers, undertaken by Intervet Schering-Plough Animal Health, highlights that Enteric Redmouth Disease (ERM) remains a major concern for producers. According to the company this is reflected by an increase in demand for vaccines and technical advice. At the end of autumn 2008 producers were invited to provide electronic responses confirming their historic experiences of ERM and current vaccination strategies for managing the disease. The survey findings confirm a high level awareness of the damaging impact of an outbreak. Asked about their own experiences, producers confirmed the real significance of adverse performance across their business.
