The two Ps, planning and preparation, play a key role in successful establishment of SRC. The crop has a minimal tolerance to weeds in the first two years prior to canopy closure, so the elimination of weeds during this period is an absolute requirement. These notes focus on the growing of willow, but will generally also have relevance to the establishment of poplar crops.
