AS INCREASING IMPORTANCE IS PLACED ON THE SUSTAINABLE EXPANSION OF AQUACULTURE, NEVER BEFORE HAS THE ISSUE OF REPLACING FISH MEAL AND FISH OIL IN AQUACULTURE FEED BEEN MORE PRESSING.It can be forcefully argued that the issue of climate change will never be dealt with until the companies who pump millions of tonnes of effluent into our skies, or dump equal amounts of pollutants into our seas, accept that they are a major part of theproblem and do something about it.Similarly, the issue with sustainability within the fish feed industry also relies on the big players paying more than just lip service to the problem, and to take a proactive role in investing in the R&D to not only promote the sustainability of marine-based diets - particularly regarding fishmeal and fish oil - but also to produce a range of viable alternatives to supplement or even replace marine-based feeds.
