Power and cost savings are the main benefits that Cooke Aquaculture Scotland expects to see at its Furnace Argyll fresh water Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) plant, after fitting BOC's SOLVOX OxyStream system - the first installation of this novel, energy-efficient technology in the UK.The SOLVOX range optimises oxygen dissolution in water and improves the distribution of oxygenated water to fish, as well as improving the growing environment through better tank hydraulics.This results in improved Food Conversion Ratios (FCR), leading to enhanced Specific Growth Rates (SGR) and therefore savings on expensive feed. Major savings are made on reduced electrical power for site pump loads because of the system's lower pressurerequirements.
