OVER the last 20 years, biosecurity control in fish rearing systems has become increasingly critical, due to increasing fish densities, tighter water control and tougher government regulations. During this time UV disinfection has increasingly becomean integral part of overall biosecurity programmes in flow-through, re-use and recirculating facilities. UV light is an invisible wavelength region of the electromagnetic spectrum.The ultraviolet wavelengths of greatest benefit are found in the UV-C (germicidal) region, between 200 and 280 nanometers (nm).
