'As timber markets shrink and contractors are increasingly squeezed to do more for less, it is only natural that diversification becomes an issue. Chainsaw carving has many of the attributes required by the individual when thinking about diversification'. Speaker is Andy Reynolds who has teamed up with veteran carver Mick Burns to establish a specialist carving course for all those men and women who have expressed an interest at demos and events in learning the specialist skills for themselves. Theadvantages to existing chainsaw operators are many fold: they have the kit already; timber used has no value, but the potential exists to add value, finished carvings are easily transportable (as long as you don't get carried away!); and individuals candoit without any financial backing.
