False mildew in marrowi and pumpkin -- first case in the Rhine valley.

Pseudoperonospora cubensis was detected in marrows (Cucurbita pepo var. giromontiina) and pumpkins (C. pepo and C. maxima) in August 2000 in the Federal State of Pfalz, Germany. Samples from infected marrows (cultivars Velvia, Taxi and Sofia) and pumpkins (cv. Baby Bear) were used to inoculate cucumbers (cv. Merlita), melons (cv. Sugar Baby), pumpkins (Baby Bear), and marrows (cv. Diamant). The first symptoms occurred in all plants after 6 days, followed by sporulation on day 7.
