Certified wood products merchants in the United States: A comparisonbetween 1995 and 1998

This paper compares two studies conducted in 1995 and 1998 that examined perceptions and activities of certified wood products merchants in the United States. There was much similarity between respondents in both studies. For example, in both time periods, respondents paid more for certified wood products relative to the non-certified version and received a much lower premium, if any, for their certified product offering. Eighty-six percent of respondents in 1998 expected their certified products sales to increase compared to 63.4 percent of respondents in 1995. The percentage of respondents that expected sales to decline dropped from 13.1 percent in 1995 to 5 percent in 1998.
