Twenty years of forest vegetation management research in South Africa - have the original objectives been met?

The Institute for Commercial Forestry Research is owned by the South African (SA) forestry industry and undertakes research on applied aspects of commercial timber growing, of which vegetation management is one. The relevance and adoption of researchfindings emanating from 20 years of vegetation management research can only be considered partially successful. Reasons for this, together with possible solutions are highlighted.
