World prices, producers' remuneration and future of the cotton subsector in Mali.

This study was conducted to analyse the expected impact of the establishment of the new mechanism of cotton producer prices on the entire cotton subsector and on the Malian economy, in comparison with the production costs and the institutional changes in progress within the subsector. The study highlights the important risk of impoverishment of the producers at the microeconomic level and the potentially negative repercussions on the whole Malian economy at the macroeconomic level..
