摘要

Interlaminar stresses caused by cracks arise in composite laminates and there are no transverse fibres to stop the crack propagation along the interlaminar planes. This cracking process between plies, i.e. delamination, constitutes a fundamental weakness of composite materials. A solution to this problem is being developed with a novel type of composite material with an interphase between the composite plies that maximises their shear stress transfer.
