On 23 February 2011, Imerys (headquartered in Paris) announced that it had made a formal binding offer to Rio Tinto (headquartered in London) to acquire the entire business and assets of the Luzenac group. The offer values Luzenac at $340 M. The Rio Tinto Board has indicated that the offer is acceptable, but it will defer its formal response until it has had time to complete consultations with the relevant European works councils.
