Rhode Island Supreme Court finds lead pigment companies not guilty of public nuisance

The Supreme Court of Rhode Island has overturned the finding of"public nuisance"on the part of three former manufacturers of lead pigments and lead paints.By a unanimous verdict of 4-0,judges in the Supreme Court rejected the lawsuit originally filed in October 1999 by the Attorney General of the State of Rhode Island.The original lawsuit included a number of claims against eight companies,alleging the creation of a public nuisance,unjust enrichment,liability for the manufacture and sale of
