摘要

Environmental problems are associated with under-use,over-use and incorrect use of fertilisers.Despite considerable developments in the field of fertiliser use research,the recovery efficiency of applied fertiliser hardly exceeds 50% and a considerable amount is lost from the soil system.Improvement in fertiliser use efficiency,therefore,is necessary to increase crop productivity and reduce environmental pollution.The nutrient use efficiency may be improved by regulating the supply from the fertiliser material and enhancing the uptake and utilisation efficiencies by the plant.The paper discusses various emerging technologies to improve the fertiliser use efficiency and reduce environmental pollution.
