The present paper aims at critical review of the response to micronutrients in cereals and vegetable crops in Himachal Pradesh.No proper delineation of the areas of micronutrients deficiency has been done so far.Parent material,total amount,pH and organic matter are the dominant factors affecting micronutrient availability in these soils.Evaluation of chemical extractants with respect to Zn and Mo has been made for wheat,potato and soybean crops.The crop response of 15-25kg ZnSO_4/ha reported for maize crop.For wheat the response level of 20kg ZnSO_4/ha has been recorded in acidic silty clay loam soil.In a brown hill soil of Shimla region,the response of potato to zinc was 20kg ZnSO_4/ha.In case of cauliflower,the economic response to Mo application was 250g sodium molybdate/ ha in an acidic soil and upto 1500g sodium molybdate/ha in nearly neutral soils of Chambaghat area of Solan.The response of boron has been reported to be 20kg borax/ha for cauliflower in a sandy loam soil of Solan district.
