Electrocoating or E-coating of vehicle body-in-white (BIW) is one of the last engineering areas where computer simulations are not commonly used, and mainly Automotive OEMs and e-coating line suppliers are looking for solutions in this domain. Simulation methods have been applied with success to a broad range of engineering problems, such as hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, structural mechanics and heat transfer, but their use for electrochemical surface treatment applications is limited by the complexity of the phenomena that govern electrochemical processes. The electrocoating simulation solution is Elsyca's (www.elsyca.com) most recent addition to a lineup of software tools for a variety of electrochemical processes.
