A firmer undertone has been noted in the ammonia market where prices are believed to be close to a floor. While further marginal falls in value cannot be ruled out with the Tampa March price tag likely to show a modest decline compared to February, optimism among market participants is growing for the months ahead. In the US the possibility of early spring weather would prompt a return to substantial ammonia use against a backdrop of improving global demand in line with seasonal trends. US inland prices already support higher replacement costs from overseas. As such, international ammonia prices are expected to edge up gradually over the coming months, barring any serious supply issues which did sporadically pop up throughout 2014.
