Alleged Indian AN demand sparks producer optimism

Alleged substantial forward demand for AN from India was at the forefront in discussions with Russian and Ukrainian AN producers early this week. Approaches from certain Indian agents/representatives suggested that several cargoes would be required, but the rumours are yet to be substantiated. Traditionally an importer of no more than 250,000 mt/year of ammonium nitrate for industrial use, the India-bound volumes suggested are considered far in excess of reality by most seasoned observers.
