New Orleans barges drift then sink

An absence of nearby enduser demand and substantial imports still to come, especially from China, have taken the wind out of the sails of the granular urea barge market, and replaced it this week with a sharp move downwards. Business is cited at midweek as low as $330/st FOB New Orleans for non-Chinese material. Prices moved down on a series of trades that started at $335/st FOB. Last week barge sales peaked as high as $343-345/st FOB.
